It is a direction in space that is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap150316.html\" target=\"_blank\">rich<\/a><\/strong> with impressive nebulas. To better appreciate this well-known swath of sky, an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/volskiy.smugmug.com\/Nebulas\/i-8dZ6DdL\/0\/O\/Orion_2787x2412px_25_percent_CR1_2_sRGB.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">extremely long exposure<\/a><\/strong> was taken over many clear nights in 2013 and 2014. After 212 hours of camera time and an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsneaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/bored-cat_Fotor.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">additional year<\/a><\/strong> of processing, the featured 1400-exposure collage spanning over 40 times the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Angular_diameter\" target=\"_blank\">angular diameter<\/a><\/strong> of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/moon.nasa.gov\/about.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">the Moon<\/a><\/strong> emerged.<br \/>\nOf the many interesting details that have become visible, one that particularly draws the eye is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap090224.html\" target=\"_blank\">Barnard&#8217;s Loop<\/a><\/strong>, the bright red circular filament arcing down from the middle. The Rosette Nebula is <i>not<\/i> the giant red nebula near the top of the image &#8212; that is a larger but lesser known nebula known as Lambda Orionis.<br \/>\nThe <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap150225.html\" target=\"_blank\">Rosette Nebula<\/a><\/strong> <i>is<\/i> visible, though: it is the red and white nebula on the upper left. The bright orange star just above the frame center is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap100106.html\" target=\"_blank\">Betelgeuse<\/a><\/strong>, while the bright blue star on the lower right is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/earthsky.org\/brightest-stars\/blue-white-rigel-is-orions-brightest-star\" target=\"_blank\">Rigel<\/a><\/strong>. Other famous nebulas visible include the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap151030.html\" target=\"_blank\">Witch Head Nebula<\/a><\/strong>, the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap141209.html\" target=\"_blank\">Flame Nebula<\/a><\/strong>, the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap080422.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fox Fur Nebula<\/a><\/strong>, and, if you know just where to look, the comparatively small <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap150513.html\" target=\"_blank\">Horsehead Nebula<\/a><\/strong>.
